The Artists’ Guild in Corry, Pennsylvania, had its spring art show a few weeks ago. I’ve mentioned in an earlier post that I was the original creator of the Guild’s spring show, and the first show was in April of 1998. That was 28 shows ago.

I was a cofounder of the Guild in the summer of 1997. I, along with three other artists, decided to organize a group of artists that could share their ideas and talents with each other. We began with eleven local artists and became the Artists’ Guild in September.

Along with Roseanne Anderson, Carolyn Vanderhoff, and Ruth Ann Weiss, we led the group through meetings, demonstrations, workshops, field trips, and a plethora of other activities for many years. It was a fun and grand time to be a member of the Guild.

By our second year, we had close to forty members. Among them was my dearest friend Ruth Williams who was our treasurer when the above photo was taken. Ruth was one of my students when I taught workshops from 1990 to 1997. Other members were students of mine, and we became the best of friends through the Guild.
Our main objectives were to teach, share, and learn together.

After a ten-year hiatus from the Guild due to a heavy work schedule at my old job, I returned to the Guild and helped put together the spring show last month.

Unfortunately for me, when it came time to enter artwork into the show, I had nothing new. I painted my last painting fifteen years ago, and my little studio only had paintings from the 1980s that I hadn’t sold. So, I picked four of the better works and entered them.

The past has been my Ripples and Reflections. Many of my friends from that era are gone. I have my memories, old photos, and a small mountain of notebooks with twenty-eight years of notes and news clippings to reflect on.
As an artist getting back onto the creative horse, I need to begin painting again and learn to ride again. Can I do it and do it well, if not better than before?
Only time will tell.
Thanks for joining me today. Until my next post, peace and love, everyone.
