Sometime in March, my Facebook page stopped showing my WordPress posts feeds. I haven’t found out why, but both FB/Meta and WP/Jetpack tell me everything is in working order at their ends.
(Does anyone else smell something rotten in those answers?)
After I was unable to resolve the problem, I changed the name of my FB page and connected the new page to my WP connections feed today. This post will confirm whether it shows up on my FB page once I publish it. I won’t be surprised if it doesn’t.
In all fairness, is it my imagination, or have the two companies gotten worse with quality control lately? They’re both HUGE companies, so one would think they’d have the money to make their web companies better and keep that quality. Sadly, however, WP was much better at syncing posts when I began blogging here in 2011, and FB was better at receiving posts when I began there in 2010.
I won’t lose any sleep if my feed from here to there doesn’t work. The value of the Internet has decreased with me over the past decade, so I spend very little amounts of time connected to it. But when I do, I expect the services using it to work properly. Or is that expectation too unrealistic?
Until my next post, peace and love.

UPDATE – 7/11/2024:
The post showed up at my Facebook page. Finally, after four months of aggravation, a name change fixed the problem.

Unfortunately, ALL of the big tech companies are ALL about power and control. They ALL censor us and sadly, the government allows them to, and even encourages and supports it. These are troubled times indeed. 😦

On a positive note, the name change at Facebook fixed the problem. But I agree that we equate money with power and control. Big money rules the world. It’s funny how money began as a pebble that one person gave another person in exchange for something they wanted. It’s an abstract idea that has enslaved us ever since.

I always feel like I’m going down a conspiracy theory rabbit hole when I get started in this area, but on Instagram I am constantly having my comments to other people’s posts (about chronic pain) blocked – apparently I am “like fishing” and no one wants to read it… only the people posting about their chronic pain are specifically asking to be seen and heard and understood, and replying that I get it, has nothing to do with “like fishing” but “offering support” – it drives me nutty that anything that is too fringe for their liking gets wiped off the slate… I’m sure if I took more photos of bikinis or sportscars I would probably have no problem! So, long ramble (sorry) but I definitely think things are afoot! Linda xx

I just returned from a holiday/vacation. Being off “the grid” was a pleasant change of pace. When I read your comment, it brought home the fact that the collective mind of the Internet reminds me of the Star Trek Next Generation’s Borg collective, and was a big reason why I was happy to be away from the Internet. I could think for myself and say what I wanted without wondering if my words would offend someone who’d want me silenced and punished. The world needs to get over being offended by different points of view. I say, keep commenting your helpful opinions on Instagram and use other outlets to bring light to their obsessive behavior of blocking your comments. These types of web companies are under increasing scrutiny by important people whom I like to call freedom fighters.

Here’s hoping that the tech companies DO get reined in – I fear the reverse might happen, and they will turn their investments into private foghorns…!!

I opted-out of Facebook around 2014 and haven’t looked back since. I don’t miss it.

Back around 2007, I enjoyed using MySpace as a social platform to share my art and writing. When it died, I ventured to Facebook, but it was silly back then and never hooked me as anything done professionally. It still hasn’t hooked me.
