Trespassing

A Vree Erickson YA Novella by Steven Leo Campbell

Welcome to another tale set in the strange world of Ridgewood, a small town in the foothills of western Pennsylvania.

What began as a short story in the first book of the Ridgewood Chronicles series, became a novella. Trespassing: A Vree Erickson YA Novella shows us what happened before and after the events in “Another Night of Hell Hounds” by the main character, 15-year-old Vree Erickson.

She just wanted to receive her witch powers, but she never expected to fight for her life to get them.

When her Aunt Emily Umberto begins teaching her about witchcraft and magic, Vree discovers she has an inoperable and life-threatening brain tumor that requires her to find a healing crystal somewhere in the off-limit tunnels and caves beneath Myers Ridge. But a cruel magic eater—a giant fiery Rottweiler named Blood—tries to stop her from disturbing the crystals by eating her magic. However, a fall deeper into the ridge leads her to disturb an important crystal and release Dargwawl, a dragon who needs her magic to escape imprisonment. Can she outwit the dragon and magic eater and find the healing crystal in time to save her life?

I enjoyed writing this book. Researching witchcraft, magic, and ghosts and spirits was fun and sparked my imagination for future books. And, as always, I loved exploring supernatural themes, childhood friendships, and the sides of good and evil in this book.
